Money Hai Toh Honey Hai - Bollywood Movie Review

Motwani, Manoj Bajpai, Celina Jaitley; Director: Ganesh Acharya; Rating: *

If you wanna waste your hard earned money to enjoy with your honey seated in the corner seats then only risk watching Money Hai To Honey Hai. Where Ganesh was appreciated for his debut directorial film Swami his second attempt has horribly gone wrong.

Every character of the film is busy fulfilling their dreams. Bobby (Govinda) is a happy go lucky guy, who runs away from home to prove himself. He wants to earn a lot of money and give it back to his father. Shurti (Celina Jaitley) is a fashion designer who wants to design clothes for the common men but she doesn’t even get money for the work she does. Aashima Kapoor (Hansika Motwani) is playing a popular television bahu who has a dream to make it big in Bollywood. Manik (Upen Patel) is a struggling model who sleeps with a middle-aged fashion designer (Archana Puransingh), hoping to make it big. Gaurav (Aftab Shivdasani) is a copywriter in an ad firm who always fails to impress his boss with his ideas. Lalabhai (Manoj Bajpai) plays a man with a positive attitude who is happy even after loosing 1 crore which he had earned through a lottery.

In this way all these characters wants to earn money and one fine day they all get a phone call from a mad man Jaiswal (Prem Chopra) that he has left 1 crore rupees for them before dying. However, their happiness does not last long for the lawyer reveals that there’s a loan of 1,200 crore on the company and they must repay it and until the loan is repaid, they would be kept under house arrest. They plan to repay this loan by doing a fashion show and also get successful in earning this money.

This is the story of the film. But there are many unwanted scenes been filmed. The last half an hour is wasted in a filming a fashion show which was needless. Looking at the climax it seemed as if Ganesh didn’t had any material left to lengthen the duration of the film. As far as acting goes, Manoj Bajpai has been slightly successful in his comic role. Govinda looks in his typical bindaas andaaz. There’s no such brilliant performance from any actor to be talked about and everyone seems to be normal. Yeah, but Mukti Kapoor (Rakhi Vijan) who plays a successful television producer and spoofs soap queen Ekta Kapoor’s real life character has done a good job. But at the same time the way she shouts, more than Ekta she seems to be in a Phulan Devi’s character. In the second half of the film where they are kept in house arrest it feels that we are watching an episode of Big Boss and every character is planning strategies against each other. Manoj Bajpai’s dressing sense could easily compete with the ones worn by the actors of Bojhpuri films. We really don’t know whether Manoj himself has selected his clothes or Ganesh is the culprit behind it.

We also don’t know whether Manoj is aware of the fact that he has wasted his talent working in this film. If we look at his recent films, we feel that Manoj has started getting allergy towards good films.

Ravi Kishen has given good performance in some of the scenes. Over all it’s a mindless comedy in which Ganesh has tried very hard to make the audiences laugh but in vain. Music is ok. The main culprit behind this useless film is the writer Muazzam Beg for scripting such a film as the writer is the first person to visualize any film. And we really don’t know what excited Muazzam Beg to take the pain of penning down this kind of script. To end it, it’s on you whether you want to see this film or not. But we would advice you to save your money and rather go out for a nice dinner with your friends or family.
