Nayan is back to mallu films

After doing a couple of films in her own state Kerala, Nayantara started out with the girl-next-door image and transformed into a glam queen in Tamil movies and then she managed to do the same in tollywood as well.

She debuted in Kollywood with Ayya, opposite Sarath Kumar, and the Rajini movie Chanramukhi helped her to get a star value. Since then, there’s been no looking back for her to the film industry of her own language - malayalam.

But now, Nayanthara has just one film in Kollywood, Boss Engira Baskaran with Arya, and a Kannda language film with actor-director Upendra. Nayan's telugu movie Simha, the Bala Krishna movie in which she shares the female leads along with Namitha and Sneha Ullal, has just released for the tollywood audience.

Latest buzz is that Nayanthara is back to Malayalam films. The actress is very excited about her upcoming Malayalam film, Electra. “I am excited that I am going to explore a new genre and the director is insisting on spontaneity. So, I intend to go to the sets with an open mind,” says Nayan while talking about the film.

Meaning of Nayanthara

There is a meaning of her name. Nayanthara means "Eyes like Stars". Her eyes are really like star. Big and Beautiful.

Her Film Career

Her film career was started when she studded at college. Director Satyan Anthikkad spotted her and cast opposite Jayaram in Mansinakkare. Then, she co-starred with Mohanlal in Naatturajaavu and in Fazil's Vismayathumbathu. She was also cast with Mammootty in Thaskaraveeran (Dubbed into Tamil as Yuvaraj) and Raapakal.

She has starred in a number of Tamil and Telugu cinema. She was cast opposite Sarath Kumar in Ayya and with Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi. Her later films are Vallavan (Tamil), Gajini (Tamil), Yogi (Telugu) etc floped except Ghajini. She regained her throne in Kollywood through Billa in 2007. Her next movie Yaaradi Nee Mohini was a stupendous success and she became the Queen of Kollywood next to Trisha Krishnan. Nayanthara is currently a leading star in Southern Cinema, with leading roles in films with Rajnikanth - Kuselan, with Ajith Kumar - Aegan, with Vijay - Villu, with Vishal - Sathyam. She is currently the highest paid South Indian actress. She was paid Rs. 1 crore for Sathyam, Kuselan and Aegan. It is rumoured that she will be paid Rs 1.5 crores for Villu.
